Authorities in Alameda County are giving the public a heads-up that there will be no Fourth of July fireworks tonight at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

A local newspaper mistakenly printed that fireworks would take place tonight, causing Lt. Jim Knudsen of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office to worry that families will show up expecting a colorful display and find only a dark, blank sky.

Fair spokeswoman April Chase said that while the fair has included Fourth of July fireworks in past years, no such shows are planned for this year.

Chase advised Alameda County residents looking for a sky show to head to Robertson Park in Livermore or Central Park in San Ramon.
