Olympic-Level Video Technology Tech businesses and broadcasters get ready for Beijing As the world gears up for the summer Olympics in Beijing, businesses are ramping up their technology in order to provide online and mobile coverage of the event. One such company is Omneon, a video server and storage supplier which is working with NBC to find innovative ways to store and transfer Olympics video content. Essentially, every moment of the Olympics will be captured on video and that video needs to be available in multiple formats for broadcast, cable, broadband, video-on-demand, HDTV and mobile video platforms. Omneon’s system allows all of the content to be stored in different resolutions and makes it accessible to NBC’s USA-based staff without taxing the limits of the system.
