How about they focus on games first?I can understand them wanting to be an all in one device but they need to focus on the gaming side and making a profit before they get tangled into the video aspect.
Unless they can drastically cut subscription price I don't see them working out on video. Netflix did a great job of getting themselves on every device.

Re: Download caps will KILL THIS if the lag does not do it firstwe're talking about Video not the gaming service. And the samething can be said about NF as well. give it up already.

Great Service...However I have yet to actually give them any money. The games library is pretty small at this point. Quality is excellent though, I was a major skeptic when I first heard about it. I can play Unreal Tournament with no issue - a very lag sensitive game.
Leads me to beleive the video service would be great if they can get the content.

Re: Great Service...really? the colo is in chicago. if I live too far from the data center then they have big problems ahead.

Then your connection is a joke.
I live at least 500 miles from the connected data center and my Comcast has pretty poor line quality, yet OnLive works amazingly well considering.

if you didn't have the differnet providers you wouldn't have competiton and then people on here would bitch about one company being a monoply. you can't have your cake and eat it too...be glad that someone else is trying to do something.

God luckUnless they have the kind of money Netflix does to pay ridiculous licensing fees, I can't see it ever taking off. Of course that's just what the cable and telcos want.
|
| |
Re: God luckYes, they'll have to offer something extraordinary as an alternative to Netflix and be able to maneuver around the content holders roadblocks to be any bit successful.

T has more money than NF. And T is the MAJOR partner in OnLive. T could make anything happen.

Who is behind the push for this service?Seems like there is a lot of press and the hard sell for this OnLive service. That always makes me suspicious. When something gets this much press, usually someone is buying glowing reports to sell a turkey to the public.

Re: Who is behind the push for this service?as said before- ATT is a major player in this product.

hahahaSorry, I'll stick with my PS3 and Netflix. I also have a 360 and media center that can do Netflix (and TV, and whatever other video content streaming, etc.) - - and I have games that I know will work, without NEEDING to be online, or be at the mercy of the ISP, the internet at large, or some service I need to pay for...

Sounds goodOnlive already has probably 90% of the infrastructure in place with bandwidth out the wazoo. With a few licenses and an automatic encoding system and they could easily be making extra income with minimal investment.
i barely watch TV/movies but i'd be interested in this if it offered more shows than xfinity.com/hulu and the cheap netflix packages.
