Packet One Network (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (P1), is aggressively expanding its broadband coverage area to include secondary cities in Malaysia, its chief executive officer, Michael Lai said. As at March 2009, the national broadband penetration stood at 22 per cent.

In an interview with Bernama recently, Lai said this year, P1 extended its broadband coverage to Kluang, Batu Pahat, Muar, Taiping and Sitiawan. Saying that P1 was already on track, Lai estimated that by end 2010, 45 per cent of the population would have access to broadband coverage and 65 per cent of the country's population would be covered by 2012. He said with the government's intensified effort, the pace of broadband coverage throughout the country was picking up. Article Bernama
