(1010 WINS) SYRACUSE, N.Y. New Yorkers are getting a new look for their driver licenses.
Gov. George Pataki unveiled the new design Thursday at the opening of the New York State Fair, saying enhanced technology will make the documents nearly impossible to duplicate.
An ``optical variable device'' is imbedded within the laminate to prevent forgery, Pataki said. There also is a backup layer of protection in the laminate that would reveal cut lines or spots. The variety of colors also will be difficult to reproduce.
