| | | Ptrowski why is it that you post something on every article that has something to do with comcast seems like you have some sort of agenda. This post is not half as negative as your others. Why must you bash comcast do you even have comcast in your area??? Or do you just like to ride the bandwagon. Maybe you work for Verizon that makes even more sense. Either way it doesn't make much sense. | |

Rattler join:2001-04-13 Havertown, PA 1 edit | Nothing new in Philly power brokering
Philadelphia has it's share of under-the-table dealings, as does any other large city. This is nothing new. If they bugged the offices of Phila. city council members, a good portion of them would be sitting right next to the governor of Illinois, in jail. Until the right palms are greased, this is going to be stalled, to the detriment of Philly residents.
You ought to hear some of Comcrap's latest anti-FiOS "FUD" ads on radio, "dissing" FiOS's HD content, citing those weird VOD titles like "How to Boil Water", which aren't in HD anyway.
To boot, I got, count 'em, four (4) Comcrap ads in yesterday's mail, each one offering a different package with "Free" HD - what a bunch of BS!

Not so. Philadelphia politicians are much cannier about not getting caught. The previous mayor even turned a Federal investigation into a landslide re-election -- he found the bug.

| | compitition is good... If comcast is as good as they say they should have nothing to worry about. The co-ops and clecs can come in and compete with telecom why shouldn't anybody be able to compete with cable. Maybe they should deregulate cable too... | |

| | Not surprising No one in office really represents the people anymore I don't think. Comcast had HUGE help with the loophole in the 1996 telecom act by Arlen Specter, so that the RSN isn't shared with satellite providers. Now this. I think these people forget who gave them the jobs they have. Can't any of them just do the right thing for the right reasons? (That was a dumb question, ignore it) | |

I don't use nearly that much, so it is negligible. Price-wise, Comcast wins. Speed-wise, Comcast wins. Uptime, Comcast wins. As you can see, local DSL provider sucks.

|
| | | | | | | | | Re: Comcast is bad for America. Yes, but the phone company is worse, in my area. So to me, Comcast > local phone company. Therefore, they are not some kind of evil since they provide a better service than my one and only alternative (besides dialup/satellite). But in most areas, yes I see how they are not exactly the best option, even though they are the only option. | |

Therefore, they are not some kind of evil since they provide a better service than my one and only alternative (besides dialup/satellite). But in most areas, yes I see how they are not exactly the best option, even though they are the only option. Here it is quite the opposite. They withhold their RSN from satellite companies thanks to help from the politicians that comcast funneled a ton of money to through lobbyists, DSL here is only 3 Mbps, so Comcast gives you speed, but restricts usage. Their phone service here has problems every month. They move channels from basic tiers to more costly tiers every year. They have raised internet prices here. I could go into nightmares I have had with them, but don't feel like flogging the dead horse.
Bottom line is, competition should always be the goal, and it should NEVER be a competitor that is successful in thwarting it. Even if no one likes the "other" provider, that's fine, but let there be competition. Here there is even less competition than there should be because they use their RSN to keep their monopoly. If you don't get FiOS or Comcast, you don't watch Philly sports here. This is the only location in the country where that is happening, thank you Arlen Specter and FCC.

| So is Verizon. And AT&T. And Microsoft. And Google... but what is worse is the lack of accountability and the non-oversight our "gubberment" has to allow mortgage crisis, banking, automotive bailouts. Atleast with Comcrapstick, you could call up, be polite and cry a bit. They may cut you a break.
I suspect Comcast will cry "we are losing customers and need to be bailed out!" along with everyone else.

Ehhhh. They are in serious-ish debt but Comcast has actually shown a capability to handle that debt, unlike most of it Telecom buddies. Still, it would be a huge hit to the economy if any of these companies walked away from it. The label "too big to fail" might apply, but they have a strong operating profit and make reasonable money after they pay their debt payments.
Hey, Verizon's Billing is bad for America too! WTF is up with the piss-poor quality of most of Verizon's back-office systems? The network seems pretty good, but their customer-ordering, -billing, -support, systems cast a dark shadow on all of it. -- Robb Topolski -= funchords.com =- Hillsboro, Oregon -- KJ7RL What you do at Christmas does not matter so much; What counts are the Christmas things you do all year through.

moi @comcast.net | Comcast don't need no stinkin' lobbyists They have the former Chief of Staff of Mayor "Porky" Rendell as a VP and on their Board.
They give the sitting PA governor ("porky" rendell again) - a gig as a post eagles game commentator. Talk about unseemly ( and i not just talking about rendell's looks).
shame is Verizon customer service and actual service is sooooooooo bad that it's not worth the 20% saving I can get out of them.
