Qwest Communications says it will include some of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Live programs in its broadband Internet access offering, as part of a renewed deal between the companies.
The programs, including the new Windows Live OneCare PC security and maintenance program, will be available to Qwest broadband customers at no extra charge, the telecommunications company said. Microsoft is separately charging $50 a year for the OneCare subscription service.
The companies declined to disclose the financial terms or the length of the renewed deal. Qwest, based in Denver, has 1.7 million broadband subscribers, in Seattle and other areas.
Qwest has offered Microsoft's MSN Premium online services, including McAfee virus scanning, in the same way. The companies said the new arrangement expands on that relationship, which dates to 2001.
