The logjam has broken, the ICC and SBC have kissed and made up, and Project Pronto is finally waking up from hibernation in Illinois. Aurora seems to be the first CO to have lit Pronto RTs and connected customers. Follow the fun here.
not for everyone right away!!!! My activation date was today and no signal whatsoever...I've got a bad feeling I'm gonna get one of those "sorry, we found xxxxx on your line and you are not eligible for DSL service". If that happens it would make me wonder about the integrity of the "line test" they do when you call in to order. In fact, I still don't have signal..so what good was the line test anyway? Sure hope it doesn't end up that way, but I'm skeptical now. I'm the only one of 5 people on this board so far out in the Aurora area (that I know of) who didn't have a signal at least 1 week before their active date. The jury is still out yet for me, but I want to make the point that just because you are served by an Aurora CO/RT doesn't mean you'll get DSL smoothly let alone get it at all. I'm hoping this is a just a bump in the road for me and it will work out.
The trouble ticket was "initiated" at 10:00 am this morning...the waiting begins...:(
just wanted to update my rather upset sounding posting above. Well, the problem turned out to be simple. Ameritech never changed me over from the old copper to the new digital fiber at the main phone panel 2 blocks from my house. That'll cause the signal to NOT get to my house!!!! Someone screwed up my order.
But, Ameritech did a pretty good job in handling it. I was due up on a Wednesday and by Saturday noon it was fixed. I am getting 635/135 and loving every minute of it. BRAVO Ameritech for FINALLY bringing DSL to my neighborhood! My online gaming experience is a LOT better!
