Qwest has been pretty quiet about its
plans for the future since Ed Mueller took over as CEO last year. However, Mueller is starting to open up a little bit about how hed like to see the company move forward. He recently
announced that Qwest seeks partnership in mobile broadband development. And hell be
speaking with analysts in New York tomorrow at the companys first Analyst Day since 2001.
Some people are underwhelmed about the meeting which is expected to draw about 200 attendees:
"I don't know what they're going to say. I don't anticipate too much coming out of the meeting," said Tim Horan, CIBC World Markets analyst. "You're looking at a company with flat (cash flow) and revenues. There's not a lot (Mueller) can say or do with the network. I don't think they have a lot of options."
However others hope that Mueller will take advantage of the meeting as a launching pad for sharing his development plans with the public. Analysts want to know more about Qwests impending change in wireless strategies and how the company plans to battle the big telcos in the business.
