RCN Boosts Upstream Speeds For Free
by Karl Bode 08:31AM Tuesday Mar 11 2014
RCN has announced that the company is significantly boosting upstream broadband speeds for most of the company's users. According to a company announcement, the upgrades should already be live for most users -- though you may need to reboot your modem to see them. The latest bump:

•25Mbps Customers – from 2Mbps to 4Mbps upload
•50Mbps Customers – from 5Mbps to 10Mbps upload
•75Mbps Customers – from 10Mbps to 15Mbps upload

How about downstream?

Glad to get the free upgrade. Competitor in NYC time Warner will be doubling or tripling download speeds as part of Maxx upgrade. I hope RCN can keep up because I'm ready to switch but I would rather stay.

Re: How about downstream?

First positive thing I've seen RCN do since I left them for FiOS.
I hope that the service has certainly improved since the time I left them. I would definitely give them another try when my FiOS deal runs out by June.

so far MAXX is a fantasy discussed at a shareholders meeting BEFORE the Comcast offer was accepted. now only current 50mbps customers may enjoy 100mbps for free - everyone else can go suck it as far as TWC is concerned.

I wish Charter would do the same and increase upload speeds...
