RCN Corp. said today it plans to add 41 customer service jobs at its call center in Bethlehem.
The telecommunications company, which sells cable, phone and Internet service in the Lehigh Valley, said the move coincides with a plan to hire 50 workers at its primary call center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. RCN operates a local center on Avenue C.
William Shelley, RCN vice president of customer service, said the company expects by September all calls from Pennsylvania customers to be handled by in-state call centers. We believe that the best possible service is achieved by directly employing area residents under our leadership in two centralized locations rather than to send our customers calls overseas, Shelley said in a statement.
RCN says eight-week training classes for new hires will be held in May, June and July. Information about pay range was not available.
