RIAA Says You Can’t Copy Music To Your Computer
Even when you’ve legally purchased the CD that it comes off of

RIAA has gone after a number of people in recent years for illegally sharing music with others through file trading and downloads. Some of those cases have been successful whereas others are being fought out in the courts. But the organization is going a step further in the most recent lawsuit filed against an individual.

The accused individual copied music from CDs which he had legally purchased on to his own personal computer; RIAA is alleging that to be a crime.
quote:
“RIAA's hard-line position seems clear. Its Web site says: "If you make unauthorized copies of copyrighted music recordings, you're stealing. You're breaking the law and you could be held legally liable for thousands of dollars in damages.”
They say that even a copy made on to your own computer is considered unauthorized. The Arizona man that they’ve accused of this crime has refused to pay the RIAA fines and the issue is heading to litigation.

Well I AGREE with the RIAA.

Breaking the law is breaking the law; after all.

Lawbreakers should go to jail.

The biggest offenses should be prosecuted first; don't you agree Cary Sherman?

Of course that would have you in jail along with the heads of Sony, BMG, Warner and Universal.

"Whatever for?" you ask with sincere astonishment.

Why for hundreds of acts of collusion that netted RIAA affiliates billions of dollars that they weren't entitled to.

Why for dozens of years of marketplace manipulation through Pay-for-Play schemes and Payola Scandals.

Why for outright theft and dishonest contractual arrangements with artists. Will those Jazz and R&B artists ever get their money from what became of Decca, Pacific and Epic records?

I don't think any of us here has a problem with thieves being in jail, proportional to their crimes.

Mr. Cary Sherman, you should be in prison until your grandchildren are old. The first lawbreaker you should address is yourself.

You could prove you are not a hypocritical liar by fitting yourself with handcuffs and turning yourself in to the states attorneys with a detailed confession.

An uncorrupted justice system would have them in jail already.

PS.
TCHCTXP1138-whatever, your focus on justice in the corporate world will have you speaking out on this, as their crimes are magnitudes more serious than ANY music pirate; will it not?

speakers

Obviously speakers need to be outlawed. They broadcast songs to people in the same room who did not purchase the CD. This is blatantly illegal filesharing.
