Last fall we noted how Canadian cable operator Rogers Communications was engaged in a beta of their own "TV Everywhere" Internet video service. The company has now launched the service over at RogersOnDemand.com, and says the service offers about 1,500 hours of programming in a news release with more detail. In contrast to some U.S. incarnations of TV Everywhere, Rogers' service is available to any digital cable, wireless, home phone and high-speed Internet customers. Of course there's still those low bandwidth caps and overages Rogers is known for -- which will apply for users of the service.
The channels are basically a few specialty channels and rogers owned cable channels.
The show selection isn't that great if your not into reality shows. The video quality is on-par with Hulu (which is good since we do not get Hulu officially up here)
Rogers isn't likely to put much cash into this. They still haven't made any major updates to the PVR's or other Cable boxes in years and are known for the most unfriendly and ugly interfaces on the planet.
Oh yay. They want me to use their "on demand" service and since it's on their network I still get screwed on their ultra-low caps. Come on Teksavvy, get to woodstock with cable.
