I can't understand how this makes sense. At least 50% of RCN's Greater Boston customers will have FiOS available by the early part of next year (Newton, Waltham, Watertown, Belmont, Lexington, Arlington, Woburn, Framingham, Natick, Needham) - with only their Boston (Back Bay, Southie, Roslindale and W Roxbury) neighborhoods remaining non FiOS AFAICS.
The only way this could be viewed is anti competive (shut down their competitor), so hopefully the Commonwealth has some leverage, especially now the house and senate has turned blue.

Why would fiber be trashed when Verizon is building a fiber network? Unless RCN's fiber structure is not compliant with that of FiOS, I would think it would be reworked somehow to incorporate it into the FiOS gameplan.
I mean I do not live in Boston and FiOS is just going live here in parts of NY, but I would much rather see Verizon buy out RCN in my area and give me FiOS with what already is in my building versus Comcrap setting up any type of shop here in NYC.
