| Satellites are expensive... ....and also unreliable-as Dish well knows with last weeks fiasco. I'll bet that Dish is looking at/for a wireless IP video streaming solution to the home, cars, etc. LTE easily has the capacity to do this-a la U verse, but using wireless for the last mile. | |

| | | Satellites are cheaper than wires. There is not enough spectrum for terrestrial wireless HD video to the home (or anywhere for that matter). There'd have to be a POP on every block. | |

| Re: Satellites are expensive... I have read this all to often "I'm dropping satellite TV, because heavy loud cover knocks it". So Dish could be looking at other ways to deliver the signal to a customers home, where weather isn't an issue. Also consider the satellite internet provides. I understand the Down load speed is fast, but the up load speed can be slow. So by developing different delivery methods, Dish can improve it's offering to it's customers. -- This space for rent. | |

Anyone whose SatTV reception is affected by cloud cover has a poorly aimed dish or some other installation problem (wrong cable, cable too long, etc.). They need to get someone who knows what they are doing to do the installation.

When we lived in GA, and now Ohio, our satellite gets knocked out by dense cloud cover. Usually when there is a sever thunderstorm. Regular clouds don't effect it. -- This space for rent.
