The amusing thing is that most amazing games are made by smaller companies, and then they're ruined by the big gaming conglomerate that buys them up and starts pumping out crap while firing as much of the creative staff as they can.
Ie: Westwood, Bioware etc being bought up by EA. EA has actually admitted they made a mistake by doing that sort of thing in the past, so I'm hopeful as far as the future goes.

| Re: Gaming industry! I totally agree. I'd really like to work for Valve. I think they're one of the few cmpanies dong it right. If that doesn't work with the way content is being distributed these days I can see myself doing my own indie thing. Just imagine how well purchase games in 2012. Steam has hundreds of games, you've got the app store on the iphone, wii ware. This is just the start for great indie games making it in the scene. | |

| U.S. Cellular It don't really surprise me to here about another regional cellular carrier on the market for sale. They do cover a lot of holes between some of the major carriers out in the urban parts of the country. Even with the aconomy in the dumps someone will gobble them up in a heartbeat. | |

IF----- Verizon buys them. Verizon already bought and converted Unicels GSM which covered allot of US Cellular area. Thus, just about all US Cellular areas would be redundant.
So, who else would buy them?
ATT? But they would have to convert to GSM... (Which I wouldn't mind) -- "I'm just a goof, looking for my ball."

Verizon bought a GSM system and converted it to CDMA. Why can't ATT buy US Cellular's CDMA and convert it to GSM?
It would be the only GSM here now. ATT currently covers only the southern half of the state. North, you roam onto Unicel (Verizon keeps the GSM going for roaming) -- "I'm just a goof, looking for my ball."

Everything in the press releases and such had Verizon saying they were also going to hold onto the GSM equipment on the towers just so they could make roaming revenue off of it. I wish I knew if this was the case. I can vouge that it is true.
I have a Verizon phone that suddenly went to full bars (from barely usable) when they converted Unicel. BUT! I also have an ATT iPhone that roams onto Unicel (Verizon) and still does. -- "I'm just a goof, looking for my ball."

| ATT would have to be bothered enough to do something that involves brains.
If you remember, this is the same company that built a fios to the node system and used 1.5 million boxes to send it to house, and will one day HAVE to wire fiber to houses, wasting 1.5 million per box.

I'd love to see Sprint buy them. They cover Northern California very well too, in fact, in the counties they cover (Mendocino (my county), Lake, Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Plumas) they are the coverage leader. They still don't have EVDO up here yet, while Verizon has the entire North State covered in EVDO. USCC also has a huge presence in Oregon and Washington, and has great coverage there as well.

| Re: U.S. Cellular There coverage in western Maryland and West Virginia is also excellent. Of course a lot of people dont realize that U.S. Cellular had used USF money over the years to bring wireless service to remote parts of West Virginia were no one would ever bother covering. As far as EV-DO they have been really tight liped about that, never even shows it on there web site. | |

| | | | I was with US Cellular before I switched to ATT and then eventually Sprint. Coverage was great at the time in downeast and BSP areas. | |

| | | Ive had USC for some time now, switched from ATT and have loved them. Free incoming calls is amazing - saves me so many minutes. True their data network is still quite slow, Chicago only just got EVDO and down at school I only get 1X, I do not use data too much so thats not a major factor for me (easyEDGE isnt the best methods either).
I would worry if they got gobbled up by a bigger company, things would just go down the drain - as many acquisitions tend to go. -- The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. PPL/CPL:IA;ASEL/AMEL. CFI:ASEL

How about this, let Verizon buy *ALL* of the existing CDMA providers and let the monopolize the technology.
I'm sick of stockholders and the companies' board of directors always taking the easy and most profitable way out. They have no clue what real damage they're causing to competition.

| Larger Video Game sales make sense. Go back 20 years and it was the kids playing the video games. Those kids grew up with more sophisticated consoles and games. So now you have thirty-somethings that grew up on video games. Every year they get older, a new years worth of young gamers gets introduced. So probably until we all get old and retired as the influx of young games and no outflow of older gamers, should allow the gaming market to gather steam for sometime. | |
