Globe and Mail Update

ANDOVER, Mass., and SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont., Feb. 4 — Amperion, Inc. a provider of broadband over power line (BPL) technology, and PUC Telecom, a provider of advanced telecommunications services, have announced that BPL technology has been deployed in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Amperion's products allow utilities and service providers to use existing powerline infrastructures to provide high-speed data transport and enhanced utility services.

In addition, PUC Telecom and Amperion have struck an agreement to work with other Canadian utilities to roll out high-speed broadband service using the Amperion Connect platform. This is the first BPL deployment in the Canadian market.

By deploying the Amperion product, PUC Telecom will be able to turn Sault Ste. Marie into one citywide hot spot, offering the roaming capability of PowerWiFi as a service differentiator.
