A European spacecraft took off today to spearhead the search for another "Earth" among the stars.

The Corot space telescope blasted off aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan shortly after 2.20pm.

Erroneous Reporting AGAIN!!

I really wish that reporters would not use such terms as "looking for another Earth". It does not matter how many planets we find, none will be another Earth. Yes we may find planets that are similar to Earth in mass, size and if we are truly fortunate, even atmosphere, but in reality the chances of finding a planet the same size and mass as Earth with a N² and O² atmosphere are so slim that no self respecting researcher would do anything more than joke about it.

The problem is that this type of reporting only feeds the stupid brigade who think ETI's visit us, gut cows and abduct the mentally unstable inbreeds that exist in all nations (Although there does seem to be more in the US!!)
