US Attorney -

11 August - LAWFUEL - The Law News Network - R. Alexander Acosta, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Michael S. Clemens, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert Parker, Director, Miami-Dade Police Department, Guy M. Tunnell, Commissioner, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Christopher A. Knight, Colonel, Florida Highway Patrol, and Denver Stutler, Jr., Secretary, Florida Department of Transportation, announced today the Indictment and arrest of seven individuals in Miami-Dade County. These individuals have been charged for their participation in a conspiracy to possess and sell stolen interstate cargo, with an estimated retail value of approximately $7.2 million.

The Indictment stems from investigative efforts of the Tactical Operations Multi-Agency Cargo Anti-Theft Squad (“TOMCATS”), which is comprised of both state and federal law enforcement agencies. Members of the TOMCATS Task Force executed a federal search warrant at a Miami-area warehouse on April 21, 2005, and recovered over seven thousand (7,000) pieces of Armani-brand clothing and accessories, as well as hundreds of Canon printers and Motorola cable modems.
