Skype Wants Telcos 'To Get Out Of The Way'
CEO continues campaign to make wireless networks open...
For years Skype CEO Josh Silverman has been complaining about the closed nature of telco wireless networks, pointing out that claims of open networks are really just show, since carriers continue to cripple or block Skype in order to protect voice and SMS revenues. Silverman is back again in DC this week, speaking yesterday at the FCC's network neutrality announcement, which obviously they support fully. "It is one Internet, and it doesn't matter what (kind of) network and what device you use to get to it," says Silverman to Om Malik, adding that "We want the telcos to get out of the way." Of course telcos have no intention of getting out of the way, given that being a "dumb pipe" is the worst possible nightmare for both carriers and carrier investors.

Watch your data rates go up.

Let Skype build their own network. If the wireless companies lose the revenue from voice and SMS then look for the network to move to charging more for data. All these companies that game the system may win the battle and lose the war.
If the money is not there then the network will not be improved as fast and you will see the problems the iPhone usage caused to spread and your charges go up.
