Skype has a new buddyJajah released ( old news - 02:12PM Monday Jun 27 2005) tags: VoIP Jajah, jajah.com is a new Skype-like IP based communications client that seems to offer more features than Skype. In particular, it claims an ability to seamlessly handle SMS, bridge to Skype and SIP phones, and send video (as well as the usual low priced direct-to-phone calling rates). Since it has just been released and is as yet un-reviewed by anyone it is an unknown quantity. But the brave should take their cue and rush in to try. One of the few articles about it is here" >mathaba.net/0_index.shtml?x=251147">here. Fair warning: the FAQ has this rather peculiar entry: What if I run out of credit? Will you just cut me off? No, we would never do that. The fair pay system guarantees that when you run out, you can continue to use JAJAH and the family will cover your costs until you can top up your credit again. You should also look at the "news" tab of their site for an odd newspaper clipping. Nevertheless, we were able to install and use the jajah client in 2 minutes, first to call the echo test number, and then to call a NY number using the 5 minutes of free air time they give you with the client. Sending an SMS was impossible without putting a credit in the account. The whole thing felt like skype. Related:- Vonage Apps Released For Blackberry, iPhone

| Re: I'm Sold said by Toadman :(who the hell is F. Jajah Watamba?) It's right on their site, silly. He's the founder of the company or something... (I wish I were making this up)
quote: F. JAJAH Watamba, christened Francis JAJAH Domenicus by his custodian, Father William Domenicus, is a mysterious figure who emerged in the Outback some four decades ago. He grew up in a run-down monastery in a world of rules and regulations, escaping the harsh regime of his guardian at the age of sixteen with the intention of following the storied Watamba tribe. Legend has it tribe founder Watamba I. was the first to develop long-distance communication tools, the bullroarer or turndun. Inspired by the legacy of his forefathers F. JAJAH Watamba immersed himself in the studies of communication technology.
In recent years Watamba busied himself with the conception and development of Internet telephony....*snipped the rest*
