Slashdot Discovers Powerboost Mysterious 19Mbps not so mysterious.... Monday Jul 09 2007 08:42 EDT Tipped by Cabal User Cabal writes in: "There's an amusing article over at Slashdot, full of speculation about Comcast and speed tests, with a lot of amusing theories by folks who couldn't be bothered to read the Comcast website. The entire discussion quickly devolved into a network neutrality flame war." The user that is dumbfounded by his sudden 18Mbps connection has discovered Powerboost, a technology launched last June by Comcast. Powerboost offers some impressive speeds for the first few moments of a large download -- sometimes significantly higher than what the confused Slashdot reader observes. The company started offering upstream Powerboost last May. Cox also started offering Powerboost in some markets earlier this year. |

Slashdot?...Ric Romero?...Flamewar?...Are you trying to convince me that Slashdot is woefully late reporting on a reasonably well-known technology, and that their discussion thread devolved into an utterly unrelated flamewar?
