Snowden Issues Statement As Options Tighten
Says Government Waging War on Right to Seek Asylum
by Karl Bode 02:55PM Tuesday Jul 02 2013
As Edward Snowden's leaks continue to create international ripples and his options for sanctuary tighten, the whistleblower this week issued a statement posted to Wikileaks accusing the Obama administration of "using citizenship as a weapon." "Although I am convicted of nothing, it has unilaterally revoked my passport, leaving me a stateless person," states Snowden. "Without any judicial order, the administration now seeks to stop me exercising a basic right." He later argues the U.S. government is not afraid of whistleblowers like Snowden, but "of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised."

Let's not forget that a few years ago Snowden posted on Ars Technica that Manning should be shot for giving WikiLeaks the documents.

Just think... Snowden, this hard-core 'shoot Manning' security expert saw that our government was doing things so bad that even HE turned whistleblower!

One has to think that if the people calling him traitor now saw some of the stuff that he saw... they would turn whistle blower too. Sure you hear a lot of bravado shit-talk in here, but deep down these nay-sayers are really just afraid that Snowden is right.

And which US citizens have been abused by this?

Considering that the data collection & harvesting is being done to all internet traffic indiscriminately, I'd say...all of them?

The only ones calling him traitor are the totalitarians.

Spying is SUPPOSED to be secret. Secret is part and parcel of spying.

Even spying on your own people without their knowledge? Even if it means bypassing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

The government is out of control, most of us can agree on that. Several countries hated us even before Snowden leaked that information. We have to be the big bully in the world, and everyone has to be just like us.

Re: Let's Hope Options Run Out and the Traitor Is Captured

Define "traitor" now-a-days.

Most of the House and Senate could be labeled the same with the amount of crap they passed without our knowledge.

..not to mention the "oh protect me" idiots out there that would sell their soul to have a false sense of security.
