| Sounds like the users takes it again "Music sold at Sony CONNECT may be downloaded on up to 5 PC's that are authorized at any given time. All music purchased may be re-downloaded at any given time."
So what does this mean to those who thought they had a easy way to recovery from a disaster? And how does this affect the DRM properties (proprietary formats and all of course) associated with this defunct endeavor?
I hope those who are thinking of the video downloads think about what happened to the Connect music store. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time.

Of course, that philosophy automatically make you one of the set of folks dubbed "thief". But personally, I think it is smart as seen by the volatility of the providers (and the fact that once I buy something, I hate being held hostage as to how and when I use it). -- I am not lost, I find myself every time.

Sony is pretty much ditching Connect, Sonicstage, and ATRAC (sony's DRM format) in favor of other formats and WMP11. I for one am upset by this (I love the ATRAC format) but I can see why many others would be happy over it.

That was part of the gist of the posting. The rest of the posting was wondering how those who were sucked in are going to cope with the demise. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time.

| Re: I Like Sony, but... How is Microsoft doing their services? Are they using any kind of DRM on the content? If Sony follows the same model I see no reason why they can't be successful. This isn't a sink or swim kind of service. Just an added revenue stream for Sony and added service for PS3 and PSP users. | |

If I want to own something I certainly won't "rent" it by downloading it.

| Re: Sony Take on Apple? SecuROM - Sony... Ok.
Here is something you need to read either way friend: »arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20···kit.html
"This weekend news spread quickly that the PC version of Bioshock comes loaded with a rootkit. The only problem is, it isn't loaded with a rootkit, it's just your standard "let's punish our customers" anti-piracy tool. However, since rootkit accusations are very serious, we thought we'd look into it."
It's SecuROM and BioShock isn't the only game with it!
