Sony is expanding its Playstation Vue Internet video service into San Francisco and Los Angeles, and says the company will also let users buy a few extra channels a la carte. When Vue launched back in March, the service offered users a 50 channel bundle for $50 a month, and was only made available in New York, Philadelphia and Chicago.
Speaking at E3 this week, Sony confirmed they'll be shaking up the channels users can purchase starting in July, following on the heels of other "skinny bundles" from the likes of Sling TV.
"We will begin offering a la carte channels nationwide, and will be the first paid TV service to allow users to subscribe to individual channels without the purchase of a multi-channel bundle," states Sony.
The company didn't get specific, but did state that users who pay for the $50 base package will soon be able to buy individual add on channels, including Showtime's looming
standalone subscription service (which also arrives in July), Fox Soccer Plus, and what was described as "an exclusive" channel from Machinama.
