Though offenders may still have speeds reduced...

The entertainment industry's global effort to force ISPs to boot heavy P2P users from their networks isn't going very well. In France, the idea was shot down by France's Constitutional Council who didn't find the punishment of no Internet connectivity fit the crime. Now in Spain, efforts to impose three strikes rules have been scrapped by the government, and the Coalition of Creators and Content Industries, representing content companies, states they have no interest in banning "our current and future clientele" from the Internet. The group does however still believe that reduced speed for repeat offenders is a good idea.

If Only

The entertainment industry put 50% as much effort into developing a working business model...

I could develop a great product, patent it, then give it away on street corners and the Internet, free, only requesting donations, and if it really is a good product, I'd make enough money to survive. Not live large, but live.

The entertainment industry needs to hire Trent Reznor for global re-education of their staff.

They have to keep rebooting the old ones because they can't come up with anything new.
Well I'm sure there is a lot of great stuff out there but never makes it past the Hollywood suits.

Re: If Only ( addon )

To be fair Sci Fi did come out with Eureka a few years ago. There on season 3.5 right now after almost a year break from the series. I'm excited its coming back next month and it is different.

Re: If Only ( addon )

Which begs the question; why has it taken nearly a year between the last episode(aired 9/23/2008 ep 8) and the next episode (will air 7/10/2009 ep 9)? Season 3 was in the can last fall and most of the filming for season 4 is already done.

Re: If only..

I cheered for Espana in the Euro Cup, but I was extatic for the win yesterday. Go USA, and Go SPAIN for voting this crap down. I'll say it again; Entertainment Industry: Figure it out and move on. The rest of the world won't wait for you.

France

In France the guilt upon accusation clause was ruled unconstitutional, and the penalty of no internet was thrown out with the ruling.

Speak for me

So, why is it that these countries seem to be saying exactly the opposite of what the USA has? Is there that much difference in the way each government sees this? Or, maybe it's just that France and Spain have governments that are speaking for the people.., ya think???
