DSL problem continues for customers seeking answers
(old news - 01:54PM Friday Apr 18 2008)
tags: business · trouble · outage
Earlier this week, a small Southern ISP called Speedfactory seemed to disappear on its customers after its site and services went down. The Speedfactory website is back up and running but DSL customers are still having problems getting service. Speedfactory says that the outage has been caused by an internal problem with AT&T and that they are in constant communication with AT&T to resolve the issue. A representative from Speedfactory had been providing regular updates to customers in our forums as a good faith sign that the business is doing all that it can to get the system back up and running. At the request of one of the forum users, the company has created a blog where updates will continue. The representative says an additional update will still be posted to the forum thread when a final resolution is achieved.

Speedfactory claims they are now up again and running

»speedfactoryupdate.blogspot.com/···-up.html
We have confirmation from AT&T that all our circuits are up, which means that our service to DSL clients is fully recovered.

We thank you for your patience. Our CEO will send a note to customers briefly.

Using "blogspot" isn't that "corporate" of them.

Leave it to AT&T (old Bellsouth area) to destroy a reseller

then take their sweet time to correct it. Five (5) departments had to be contacted because no one is in charge anymore at AT&T that knows the old existing BS systems. Lots of Leaders, not enough Workers. Hopefully SpeedFactory will recover from this AT&T screw-up even though I know they lost a lot of customers that went to AT&T (old Bellsouth) direct or to Atlantic Nexus in the Hot 'Lanta area also.

Re: Leave it to AT&T (old Bellsouth area) to destroy a reseller

That's just how AT&T works. I absolutely HATE turning up new circuits with them. Doesn't matter if it's DS1, DS3, or OC-X... when it comes to AT&T, I know I'm in for a rough ride.

Two Recent Outages by Speedfactory

First Outage and lack of service, support, responses was noted but th service returned briefly... Then the Speed Factory CEO says he's sorry, have a free month's service ($49.95) and new services are in place.
Second Outage, same lack of service... difference was a "secretary answers" and promises technical people "will call soon" and they never call... the New CEO blog says the second outage is not their fault... blame AT&T or Bell South... free month service... and shows Back In Service 18 April. FALSE: As of 23 April, still out of Speedfactory.
Before I QUIT: I ordered BellSouth highest speed DSL for $37 per month...new modem, hooked up 2 wired PCs, 2 wireless PCs and 2 wireless laptops last PM... speed 6mbps
Speedfactory debited my account another $49.95... Called the Bank to STOP further withdrawals...
E-mail, telecon Speedfactory and directed stop NON-SERVICE now and STOP charging me... After 10 years... Goodbye.
