Sprint 4G Arrives in Austin, San Antonio Handful of market launches remaining for 2009 Sprint today has announced that they've launched their faster Mobile WiMax wireless broadband service in both Austin and San Antonio. According to Sprint, customer plans for the new service cost $69.99 monthly for access to both the Sprint 3G and 4G network. The plan costs $10 more than their 3G plan alone, but the 4G access comes with no caps (3G users face a 5GB monthly usage cap). Sprint also sells a $10 "day pass" in 4G markets. The company is currently giving away their 3G/4G U300 USB Modem for free after a $50 mail-in rebate. According to Sprint, the company plans to launch the faster service in Honolulu; Maui, Hawaii; Salem, Oregon and Seattle before the end of the year.

Credit Suisse upgraded the wireless carrier, predicting the company will stop losing net subscribers in the last few months of the year.
Chaplin said Sprint's subscriber base should remain flat in the fourth quarter, helped by the growth of cheaper, prepaid calling plans. That would be the first time in two years that Sprint's customer base hasn't shrunk.
He expects the company to add 300,000 subscribers in 2010. On top of that, Virgin Mobile USA, which Sprint has agreed to acquire for $483 million, should add 1.2 million subscribers, Chaplin said. -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page
