No capsI would much rather pay 10 bucks more for no caps but I wonder how long it's gonna last? Nice to see Sprint moving forward with their 4G service though I wish their coverage was a bit better.

Re: No capsYeah no caps is really nice. How fast is the 4G network anyway? Thx

SpringI always make that exact same typo for some reason. Never fails. Sprint needs to take full advantage of wimax before Verizon and ATT come out with LTE. Start advertising the heck out of it and what it does.

WiMAX in PortlandIn and around the portland area, Intel Corp built a nice 4g wimax network about a year ago, and weve had cellular 4g service in the area for a while, its nice to see other carriers/providers jumping on to this really nice fast cellular broadband technology

Bye bye 3GSo, glad to see how to ISPs are increasing wireless services.

HmmmDidn't Sprint's 3G start out as uncapped as well?
Also, this 4G is actually 3.5G... but who's counting.

Whatever level of 'G' you want to call it, it is the same level of 'G' as LTE.

Whatever level of 'G' you want to call it, it is the same level of 'G' as LTE. Yep, but its funny how the wimax detractors/lte supporters never seem to mention this whenever lte is mentioned.

Comcast's deal..I want comcast's sweet $70 for wired and wireless 4g/3g. That beats this by miles.
I'm all for those type of data bundles. Sprint should just become a reseller why confuse things and sell your service through yourself, clear, comcast and others. Wasted expenditure!

doesn't this cost $60/mo under the brand clearwhy would i spend 20 more to have sprints name on it when i can get unlimited under the brand "clear" (same network) for 60...? » www.clear.com/shop/plans ··· imax.php

Re: doesn't this cost $60/mo under the brand clearThe card from clear only supports 4G, so when you leave 4G coverage you have no internet. The Sprint price plan includes 5GB of 3G, hence the additional cost. More than likely Sprint will eventually offer 4G-only devices and plans which will be cheaper than the current 4G/3G offering.

because sprint has the ability to do 3G/4G and clear doesnt, so when you travel your card will work with you. clears service ONLY works where you have 4G service

Nice if you can get it4G? heck all my area can get is ROAMING. Sprint doesn't offer service in my area. Meanwhile Verizon offers 3G in my area.

Re: Nice if you can get itAs you've already pointed out on numerous prior occasions. Is it really necessary to make this 'point' whenever Karl posts a story regarding Sprint? Yes, it sucks that Sprint doesn't offer native service in your neck of the woods. As you feel compelled to mention ad nauseam, verizon does. So use them and be happy! Not flaming, just saying...

I just dropped...My Sprint Mobile Broadband and returned the Pre in the 30 day period.
My area is one of those "swiss cheese" coverage holes that Sprint is well known for. They have great service (where it works), it's much faster than both Verizon and AT&T. I was in Santa Clarita this past weekend, and the coverage there wasn't that great either, so I had no choice but to dump them and go back to AT&T. I sure as hell am not interested in paying for 1X or roaming on Verizon's network.
The worst part about the whole experience was that the cancellation rep hung on me. That's a great way to NOT acquire customers that could return in the future once coverage issues are resolved. Of course, every company has their assholes. Will 4G fix those issues in Vegas? Who knows, it's on Clear's network, so it probably does. But it still doesn't solve the number of dropped calls I had because of 0-2 bars in this area.

Re: I just dropped...Talk about swiss cheese. I was planning on looking into Sprint due to their great prices, but my house, and the surrounding 5 mile radius is in a roaming area, and the surrounding areas have excellent coverage. That blows.

Re: I just dropped...That's what is odd about it.
I drove from Vegas along I-15 to LA, and I never lost service once. I had better service out in the middle of nowhere, than I did in my house. Then, I hit Orange County and there went my service. I think the service is great when it worked, Sprint's 3G network is fast as hell.
Truth to told, I also missed my iPhone, so that was another decision factor. The Pre is great, but it has a long ways to go to catch up with the iPhone. My screen had a dead pixel that was driving me bonkers, the overall feel of the sliding mechanism felt rather cheap and had some "give", and the buttons were too small for my big hands. The lack of an auto-correct feature and some obvious website cashing errors that required you to close the browser and re-open left something to be desired as well. Add that in with the fact that iTunes wouldn't recognize my Pre, so I was never able to upload music to it. I could have gotten unlucky I suppose.

Add that in with the fact that iTunes wouldn't recognize my Pre, so I was never able to upload music to it. I could have gotten unlucky I suppose. I hear poor things about Sprint out west, however you would be hard pressed to find a better provider in the NE, particularly NY. ATT is not very good and TMobile has no real presence, just a resell of the ATT network. Sprint roams free (data roaming too) on VZ network if needed and VZ is marginally better and costs a lot more and has worse phones with locked down software. The big plus of ATT (formerly Cell One up here) is that it used to work in remote areas of the state and VT which was very useful for hiking, skiing, etc, however Sprint and VZ have surpassed them a long time ago. I do find the sliding mechanism on the Pre a bit cheap, however I am constantly amazed at how well the OS performs and how great the batt life has gotten (I keep Wifi on all the time now and get 2 days under heavy use with 15 min updates on 3 email accounts). I actually found the Pre easier to sync with Itunes then an Ipod. Make playlist plug in, sync. edit- Customer service went from awful, worst to the best. I live in a brick building surround bu large brick buildings, old and solid. Everyone has bad reception in my house. Sprint sent me a free Airave and free service when I called with dropped calls in my house problem. FWIW call/sound quality on Airave is better then any service I have ever had, bet it POTS, or VOIP.

Yes, in many cases Sprint's data roaming agreements will allow these features to work, especially if you are just browsing the internet. » en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sp ··· reementsIf you think Verizon's data coverage rocks, but Sprint's sucks...that would be quite odd considering their roaming agreement.

Re: I just dropped...Sprint took away the option to force roaming on all of their new phones, which is a bit of bummer. The problem you are having sounds device specific, as both my BB Tour and Curve will take the strongest signal. It's still a problem when I am in an area that has nearly equal signal strengths, as the phone will switch from one to the other, causing all types of problems, as you could expect. It happens with less frequency with my Tour than it did with my Curve, so perhaps the newer firmware is better at handling these types of situations?

you have to go to dial pad, pull down the tab( top left) and enable roaming on pre. By default data roaming is disabled. hope it helps.

4G capability on the Sprint MiFi?am considering the mi-fi broadband option, and when pricing out the monthly rate, had been presented the option to add 4G coverage albeit in the Baltimore area.
will the mi-fi support 4G if I pick this up and visit one of these cities? I'd like to day pass it when I travel out to Las Vegas in the next few months.

Hotspot PHS300S supports 4 user at a time where as Cradlepoint MBR-1000 supports upto 32 computer at a time. and cost $160 and $250 respectively
