Sprint Blocks 57 Million Spam E-Mails For G-P
(old news - 01:28PM Monday Aug 02 2004)
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — August 02, 2004
Since Georgia-Pacific Corp. began using Sprint Email Protection Services in August 2003, almost 57 million spam emails – about 156,000 every day for twelve months -- have been blocked before they could eat up server space, network bandwidth and employee time.

Georgia-Pacific, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tissue, packaging, paper, building products and related chemicals, is one of many customers of Sprint (NYSE: FON) who are experiencing increased productivity as well as tangible network and resource benefits through the Sprint Email Protection Services solution.

“We focus our time, energy and resources on serving our customers, not dealing with unwanted email,” said James Dallas, vice president, Information Technology and CIO, Georgia-Pacific. “Using Sprint Email Protection Services to reduce the amount of spam we receive has helped keep us focused on what is important – our business.”

Sprint has teamed with FrontBridge Technologies, Inc., (www.frontbridge.com) the enterprise market leader for message management and email security, to deliver an innovative email-protection service to organizations around the world. Initially launched in September 2002, Sprint Email Protection Services works with standard messaging architectures and, as a network-based service, requires no hardware or software to purchase, install, manage or upgrade. Features of Sprint Email Protection Services include: virus protection; spam filtering; disaster recovery; content and policy enforcement; and 24x7 online reporting.
