TORONTO (CP) - Call-Net Enterprises Inc. said Wednesday it will start offering a high-speed Internet service to residential and small-office customers this year - a move that's strategically critical for its Sprint Canada communications business.
"The single biggest reason our customers give for leaving us is the desire to have home phone service and high-speed Internet service provided by the same supplier," Call-Net president and CEO Bill Linton told analysts in a conference call.
Starting in the July-September quarter, Sprint Canada will offer digital subscriber lines - technology already sold by bigger phone companies such as Bell Canada, Telus and Manitoba Telecom to deliver high-speed Internet service.
