You know what you're getting into with it in terms of size. And on the battery....I charge mine daily overnight. If you use it every waking moment then yea it won't probably last depending on the use.
But heck, I've had my EVO go 20 hrs. The Epics CPU is the same speed and uses much less power as well. Then you have the vastly better GPU on the epic.
congrats on your EVO, it s a nice phone, but of the many huge advantages of super amoled over tft, you picked the one criteria where they are merely equal, use in direct sunlight.

It depends on whether Phone7 is being forced fed to us yet. I can't remember the timetable. My only interest in Phone7 is to avoid it.
If there's a WinMo 6.5 device+4g coming down the pipe, I'd pick that first. Once unlocked, those things are configurable as heck; with lots of pre-packed firmwares choices being distributed.
I'm opting to let the Android market become a little more developed before I'll jump into it. And Android is where I'll eventually end up; because there won't be any other choices for folks who resent being owned and manipulated by Big TelPhone.

| | | | | Re: What about GPS makes no sense since Samsung announced they are working on a bug fix for the other Galaxies' GPS. I think it is worrisome that Samsung PR has been spinning that a bug fix is coming, inf act promising to have it by September, when they are claiming google maps requires it off by default, which is bizarre since the dozens of other GPS location applications -- for example Sprint Nav -- have no such requirement -- and are harmed in acquisition speed by any such requirement.
And how is it that here are Moto and HTC Androids just coming out that do not have aGPS network Aquitaine of GPS assistance off by default?
Sounds fishy, and if accurate, even worse a permanent problem unique to samsung which they just said last week they would fix!

| Re: What about GPS It's really not that complicated.
Part of samsung's problem has come from their aGPS server being improperly configured, and their firmware incorrectly managing that.
Google's solution could be because of a privacy settlement/issue/requirement. Alternatively, it could be to mitigate future issues of improperly configured 3rd party servers that make basic Andoid functions not work properly. -- "What makes us omniscient? beaups join:2003-08-11 Hilliard, OH | Screen I'm surprised the reviewers aren't picking up on how bad both AMOLED and S-AMOLED screens look. Up close, you see a screen door dot pattern...reminds me of looking at a plasma up close. And it's not a resolution issue as the iphone 4, droid, etc. don't exhibit this with similar resolutions. Also see tons of dithering, oversaturated colors...and the thing that REALLY drives me crazy is how bad the grayscale ramps are. Basically unless you show 100% white or black everything has a color to it. Example, when viewing a webpage and letting the screen dim, everything all of the sudden has a color to it, even the white.
I thought it was just my N1, but I played around with the Galaxy S and while it's better, the screen still looks awful to me. I like solid black levels as much as the next guy, but AMOLED seems to be too much of a trade off.

jhboricuaExMod 2000-01 join:2000-06-06 Minneapolis, MN 1 edit | I wish it wasn't a Samsung I really like Hummingbird but 2 things stop me from considering Samsung.
1. Their poor track record at supporting/releasing updates for their existing phones (even b4 their android models). My brother is on its 5th Moment because of the GPS issue. And he is really irritated that Samsung is not releasing a Froyo update for it, a phone that's not even a year old and its perfectly capable of running it. Prior to this the WinMo based ones I had were often left in 'update limbo' by Samsung who instead would release a V2 version of the same model and expected you to 'upgrade' to it rather than fixing their original release.
Which brings me to:
2. Samsung by far seems to release new phone models far too frequently, which would be ok except it introduces problem #1, were perfectly capable phones are left in update limbo. -- "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe." - Albert Einstein Jose A.
