She also created AOL's Premium Services business in early 2003, which grew to over two million subscribers by year-end 2004. Earlier, Hook launched AOL's wireless and voice services businesses.
Prior to joining AOL in 2000, Hook was a partner at Brera Capital Partners LLC, a private equity firm focused on media and telecommunications. She also served in a number of executive roles with Time Warner, Inc. including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Time Warner Telecom, Special Advisor to the Vice Chairman and Vice President of Time Warner, Inc., managing telecom-related transactions.

 | | | | | | Re: Don't... Lisa Hook wasn't the fault of AOL HSI's failure it was the ridiculous price the top idiots thought AOL "stupies" would pay. They got brains and didn't. Still, snagging 2 million idiots to pay $15 more a month for DSL is impressive. Also, AOL HSI couldn't handle the volume even though many ppl had full green on their modems.
AOL should've dropped their price to $9.95 a month for dial-up and let HSI users add it for free (ads could have paid for it). But, no, the bigshots at AOL Time Warner wanted it all instead of being of the common cent$ variety. -- Saving the world keeps me busy. 1 edit | "The Wrench"
Simialrly, we had a guy at the company I work for in the IT department. Consistently made really, really bad errors in judgement that angered emplyees with better knowledge, and overall did nothing to imrove our systems over 6 years. Every year, he got promoted to some higher-level position in the company where you get paid a ton of money to do nothing, essentially. The IT guys here nicknamed him "The Wrench", because everything he touched turned to crap.
The guy eventually made it up so far that he didn't have anywhere else to go but out, because he was in way over his head in terms of knowledge+skill - that he didn't have. He was finally terminated about 18 months ago when a new management team came in, but he rode the wave nicely here for about 8 years. Impressive.
This is what I think of when I hear about this former SR executive. -- And so castles made of sand, slip into the sea, eventually.
