TDS Telecom Pushes 1 Gbps in Wisconsin Monday Sep 15 2014 08:36 EDT Back in May TDS Telecom (see our user reviews) became the latest company to throw its hat into the 1 Gbps broadband ring, offering 1 Gbps speeds for $100 a month (if bundled) to residents of Hollis, New Hampshire and London, New Hampshire. Now the company states that Waterford, Wisconsin will be the latest town to get the 1 Gbps treatment, either later this year or in early 2015. Like so many other ISPs, TDS is hoping to grab some of the press attention received by Google Fiber with very selective deployment of similar speeds (they've even mirrored Google's "Fiberhood" efforts with something they're calling " Fiberville"). |

Better get the sports right like directvThey better have CSN Chicago HD and CSN chicago + HD as well CSN chicago + 2 HD. Just need to black out the bulls.
that area is in market for
Chicago Blackhawks Cubs White Sox
also need FSN north / FSN WI + over flows.
Brewers Milwaukee Bucks Minnesota Wild
They should also have the Chicago OTA channels in HD as well + the Milwaukee ones.
Directv does not have the chicago ota channles there but you can get them OTA.
Local cable has the Chicago OTA channels sd only + CSN Chicago SD and no over flow.

Joe from Des Plaines, IL is right....Waterford, Wis is SOUTH of Milwaukee, and not far from East Troy, Wis. So, they have plenty of interest in both Chicago and Milwaukee news and sport.

Waterford is SOUTHWEST of Milwaukee (hwy 36), South of Waukesha (hwy 164) Southeast of Mukwonago (hwy 83) and East of Racine (hwy 20) With a population of less than 6000, based on average of 3 residents per household, this is less than 2000 locations in the far western part of Racine county.

Re: Joe from Des Plaines, IL is right....my thoughts...You are more exact in your geographic description than I was. So, kudos to you..My point was that Waterford is the type of place that has split sports/news preferences.
Also,....Does this not show that smaller(actually a mid range) phone companies believe that they can make $ on 1 Gig in rural/smaller communities? These are exactly the communities that VZ/AT&T will NOT install fiber into, however smaller independent phone companies are installing fiber into these exact types of places all over the US. So, either the smaller community phone companies are smarter OR VZ/AT&T just do NOT want to spend capex on fiber to smaller communities.

Re: Joe from Des Plaines, IL is right....Well if TDS can do little old Waterford, why not all of Racine county with one of the highest unemployment rates in SE Wisconsin, am sure the residence would appreciate the option. Instead they choose to focus on a small rural community with not a lot of investment to be a part of the 1GP club. (I suspect some upper management lives in Waterford, wants the private club network for them and friends as TDS is headquartered in Chicago ... An hour or so drive).
Having said that, TDS owns one of the best (84%) and fifth largest wireless companies with consist high customer satisfaction... US Cellular.

One of my friends is getting blessedOne of my friends from Iowa who now lives in Wisconsin is getting it, he cannot be any happier to kick Time Warner Cable (soon to be Comcast) to the curb.
I wish they'd bring it to Springfield, MA. Our only hope of fiber was Verizon FiOS but those hopes have faded until Verizon gets new management and gets its act together (or Verizon splits it's wireline division off including FiOS to a company that is interested in FiOS deployment).

Re: One of my friends is getting blessedAs a TDS customer here in Mt Juliet TN, it already kicks Comcrap's and ATT's @$$.
Low latency is especially good. When I was on Comcrap gaming, I was always slow, and now that I'm on fiber, I'm juking the slower latency guys butts. Reaction times are so much faster on fiber it's not even funny.
I love fiber optics, because it just works! No more worrying about SNR, signal strength or EMI.

Ah TDS...Ah TDS...Would be a great company if not for the fact that they installed fiber in the areas on both side of our 3-mile road in Salisbury, NH, but didn't want to do our road because it would somehow cost $400,000....
