| Re: t-mobile restricting domestic roaming Really? T-mo would charge you a roaming fee, if you used someone else's wifi network?
Must of the "free" wifi networks around me are AT&T. So If I was at Barnes and Noble, or even the library, I'd have to pay T-mo a roaming fee, because I used the free wifi service?
Heck even the hospital has wifi provided by AT&T. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?.

| Re: t-mobile restricting domestic roaming I use an Ipad that is wifi only. I've never had a problem at any wifi hotspot.
What you are suggesting seems to go against the general idea that wireless providers want you to use wifi when ever possible.
As I have never encountered a "pay" wifi hot spot, where would they be found? Well, ok, I did encounter 2 when I was on a cruise. The ship itself had wifi. 100 bucks for 100 minutes. Then in Mexico there was a small coffee shop that called itself an "internet cafe". It offered wifi access for 20 bucks per 15 minutes.
I don't know how the cafe would have appeared on my wifi, as I left it on the ship. I do know that when I tried to access the ships wifi, safari popped up a page requestion my login information. Information the ship would have given me if I had paid for wifi.
When I hit starbucks, McDonald's, the library, they all have signs for free wifi. I get a pop up telling me the terms and conditions, I hit agree and hop onto the wifi. To date, I've never had to pay for it.
So if I happen to get a T-mo smart phone and use it's wifi ability and hop on Starbucks free wifi service that is provided by AT&T, I'd have to pay a roaming fee?
I wonder if that is something each company does to the other, as it sounds strange to me, that T-mo would charge you for using your wifi enabled device to hop on a free wifi service provided by someone else. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? | Re: t-mobile restricting domestic roaming Because, IMO, there is no such thing as "free usage" at a pay hot spot.
And you got to understand, I don't own a smart phone, so have never encountered this. So then I can access AT&T free wifi from my T-mo smart phone [if I had one] for free, no roaming charges at a Starbucks, library, McD's.
So where is the issue? As it has been my experience that free hot spots are very common. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?.

| Re: t-mobile restricting domestic roaming Then it makes sense. Because in cases like you said, just because the device has wifi doesn't mean you'll have free access. Though the sign in page that pops up as you try to access the wifi network should have a warning, to let you know that you are accessing a "free" wifi hot spot for the customers of so-so phone service. I don't see why the phone provider would have to warn you before hand, it should be on the wifi network you are accessing shoulders to warn you. But at least T-mo is warning you. -- Is a person a failure for doing nothing? Or is he a failure for trying, and not succeeding at what he is attempting to do? What did you fail at today?. | |

I don't care if my plan will jump another $20-30/month but I'm leaving T-Mobile now that they are pulling shit like this. As opposed to the other carriers that offer "unlimited" unlimited? Even Sprint is going "limited" and that will increase once their marketing drive looses wind. Truth is, an extreme few will ever be affected by limited data while roaming. . Card may/ will never Show up. . If it shows up it will carry purchase stipulations such as not valid for credit card transactions on many purchases example, gas purchases. . Will have an expiration date if not used in a certain time frame. . Will expire 6 months after first use on top of that! . Fine print.. no credit will be reissued if card not used in the time frame allowed, or if used by someone not authorized by you , as this is a not a gift card and does not follow gift card rules but a Visa Rebate card.
Im sticking with Tmobile, just not there rate plans I went to Wallyworld Mobile and now have unlimited everything under my brothers plan for $35 a month using My TMO G2X. I prefer my 5Gb of 3G vs. the 2GB of 4G for $60.

Hmm... "Hmmm..." indeed.
Recently having been the "victims" of a pre-paid-card rebate (they can be very difficult to use), my wife became curious as to why these things were gaining in popularity, so she did a little digging. As usual: Follow the money. What she found was that the reason they're becoming popular is because the issuer of the rebate gets a kick-back in the form of part of the fee the card issuer charges the vendor for the card's use.
Many places my wife tried to use the last rebate card refused to accept it.
Henceforth we'll probably pass on deals if part of the decision would be based on a rebate and that rebate is via a pre-paid card.

I have what's called a FSA, where money is deducted from my paycheck to be used for medical related expenses. I get my prescriptions filled at Wal Mart since they are actually cheaper than my crappy drug coverage at work. (News flash, they sell Lilly insulin, co-branded with a "Reli-On" logo for $25 per bottle, vs $90 for the same non reli-on bottle at the grocery store.) Anyway, they take the prepaid cards, including Amex. I swipe whatever ones I have, send the receipt in and get a check from the insurance company.

I was supposed to get two rebate cards; they applied them towards my bill instead.
This is slightly different than using the visa to pay your bill online but I can't see why they would prevent it.
