| said by Gbcue:Spec sheet says Quadband UMTS, so it will work on T-Mobile and AT&T's 4G networks. Unfortunately no it wont there will be 2 different GSM variants of the SII one for ATT and one for TMO USA difference
ATT vs TMO GSM band same quad band on both UMTS ==850/900/1900/2100.....VS.......900/1700/1900/2100 screen ==4.3 inch...........vs............... 4.5 inch processor == 1.2 GHZ dual core........vs.........1.5 GHZ dual core HSPA+ == 21mbps..........vs...............42mbps OS Gbread == 2.3.4 .............vs............2.3.5
and a few other small differences but you get the point, unfortunately we still wont be able to use one phone on both providers and take full advantage of both networks 3G/4G no matter where we are. I wish Samsung would just make one thats sold full retail price directly from samsung that carries UMTS 850/1700/1900/2100 and GSM quad band and they would corner the retail market by providing a phone that works full on both ATT and TMO.

| Re: SGS II 900 + 1700 + 1900 + 2100 = 4 bands. So it'll work perfectly with Euro networks, with T-Mobile/Wind/Mobilicity/Videotron HSPA+ networks in North America...and to an extent with AT&T/Rogers/Bellus's networks. It's just missing the 850 band, which helps with coverage. | |
|
| | | | | | Re: SGS II That's not quite correct. The bands are I, II, IV, and V.
Those are 2100, 1900, 1700, and 850. The phone fully supports both the T-mobile and AT&T networks.

| Interesting thanks for the TMO new link, the spec sheets on TMO new website has Band V (850) which the original tech spec posted about the TMO version SII 2 months ago had band VIII listed (900). So hopefully this round brings us a future proof ATT/TMO phone, However I won't hold my breath and will believe it when I see it As the same was said about the G2X all the way up until the phone was released it was slated to have quadband UMTS 850/900 or 1900/1700/2100 so it would be compatible with ATT UMTS network and this was even reported by TMO news and on TMOs own website, however upon release date we all got the big surprise! Only 1700/2100 UMTS, I still purchased mine anyway I needed a dual core workhorse for everything i do with an android phone. I didn't care if I could only use ATT 2G network with it however I would have greatly enjoyed there 3G all the same.
This leaves one to also wonder, "What Specs really will the ATT version likely have?"
I guess once again we wont know for both until release date.

| Re: Waaaah! said by chgo_man99:ha, stretch of i-90 between fort wayne, IN and toledo, OH is 2G only and it was on at&t that dominates coverage, especially in rural areas. I-90 doesn't go through Fort Wayne. And many places of both I-80/I-90 as well as I-69 don't have anything better than Edge. Welcome to T-Mobile. | |
