The Teksavvy Express Cable 12 mbps download with a 300 GB cap for $39.95 looks pretty good, especially with the "meter for customers with a 300 GB cap won't run between 2 AM and 8 AM" feature.
You could even set backup online options to run in that 6hr window and for almost all users never hit that 300GB cap.

| Re: Express Cable 12 mbps 300GB cap looks good If you take a closer look at the Teksavvy forum, they're basically reselling Rogers Cable. Rogers treats them and the customers like dirt. It's gotten so bad Teksavvy offered free DSL in the mean time for some people in the really bad (sub 56k) areas. -- "If something about the human body disgusts you, complain to the manufacturer" - Lenny Bruce What this country needs is a good five dollar plasma weapon. | |

| Re: Express Cable 12 mbps 300GB cap looks good To break the ppoe session otherwise the clock would keep running from the other session. They can then seperate the sessions each month discarding the 2am to 8am. Rough way of explaining it.They cant do that on cable as they dont have control of anything | |
|
| | | | | | | | Re: Express Cable 12 mbps 300GB cap looks good Are they actually breaking the session 2x a day to allow for this data to be discarded? I'm not a DSL user, but my knowledge of PPoE / DSL leads me to believe that this would momentarily screw up any active connections (VoIP, downloads occurring, streaming Netflix, etc). For VoIP, the momentary connection loss would cause a dropped call and would be definitely be noticeable...
I'm pretty sure the database they are using to store usage information is just discarding / not accounting for the period of time between 2 am and 8 am.

| | The whole problem of course is the CRTC When is the Prime Minister going to do something about the CRTC? Canadians are sick and tired of under the table deals that leave the subscribers on the short end of the stick. | |

Currently the pricing is reflecting 300GB caps
Why not have some packages with 200GB caps and reduce the price by (30% - $4 increase) 300-200 = 100. 100/3 = 33% decrease in cap. So by reducing the caps then you can keep the price the same or lower?

| | Teksavvy New pricing I concurred with many, despite the price increase TekSavvy still offer the best value in this country. It will be over my dead body if I'm going back to Bell or Rogers. | bad reporting! Karl This is a HORRIBLE headline, Your focussing on one Minor Price hike of less than 10% for DSL, and there are MAJOR price drops as well for every other tier of DSL, and yes cable gets drops as well as hikes But Your article title is needlessly inflammatory.
Dsl 6 meg gets a hike, Dsl 12 16 25 all get Much larger % Discounts ! dsl 25 getting over a 20% price drop have you ever heard of that? Thats alot more newsworthy to publish than this drivel.
Unlimited services have Suffered a price hike sure But all 300gb Packages save one got cuts.. how is this a bad deal? -- Every time Someone leaves Sympatico an Angel gets its wings.

Resellers need to realize that can't piggy back on the ILECs for ever and need to come up with their own way to offer their product to the public. Soon the CRTC will give the ILECs the same ruling the FCC gave the US company's; NO MORE LINE SHARE and that will be the end and TK will just be another "late" dot-com bust by not moving away from the piggy-back.

But yet you ignored the part about the ILECs and piggy-backing. But the fact is that prices will go up when user go OVER their cap.

| | | In my opinion this was a very valuable headline. This directly impacts my teksavvy account with an increase. Because of this, I looked at my unilimited account (which I have been paying for for 2-3 years) and found my usage was only 10-15 G per month - guess what I did? Knocked $20 from my bill.
It would have been nice if all of the times I talked with Teksavvy or general emails I get, just one of them highlighted that I was paying much more to you than I needed!
The reason I am on 6 is I can't get anything any higher where I am located (in fact I don't even get that) - suspect many more people are on this plan and so the article is very relevant to them.
Bravo for an informative article.

That is so idiotic I am stunned as I said to them this is 2012 and the Internet is part of our everyday lifes.
Bell does not want to be in the broadband market anymore,
I have a decent cap with them just under 200 gigs I am not a heavy user but at the end of my year with them unless they give me something good, I am leaving.
