Popular Canadian independent ISP Teksavvy has posted an announcement to our forums that the ISP is starting IPv6 trials, and is looking for customers willing to test the new technology. In order to enroll in this limited beta, users will need to volunteer in our Teksavvy Direct forum (our direct forums are where users can get confidential, direct support from a growing list of carriers right here at Broadband Reports). "Please make sure that you give us your current contact information so that we can find your account," says the company. "Once we accept you as a beta tester, we will be giving you a new PPP login (your old login will remain active) the login in question should end with @hsiservice.net."

First in Canada

Is this the first ISP to offer IPv6 to customers on a residential level? I haven't heard of any others so far.

Yes, I think they are first in Canada. In the US, Comcast was first. Not many others have hopped on board yet. ISPs should be responsible and roll this out at the rate TSI and Comcast have. IPv4 addresses will run out.

Possibly in Canada or North America, but not in the world.

A UK ISP that I was on until recently offered native IPv6 to its customers. I bet they weren't the first to do it.

Re: First in Canada

Southeast Asia(Korea, China, Japan) have had native IPv6 for years. So, no, none of the ISPs from English speaking countries were first. However, we're talking the first for our respective countries. I think TSI deserves some accolade bringing this out in a horribly non-competitive country. Trust me, I do know because I'm originally from Quebec and was on Robbers(Rogers). Could not get dsl where I was =( I give Comcast some credit too, as noone else in the US has been inclined to introduce native IPv6, as of yet(even though our competition stinks very slightly less badly).
