SunRocket customers were steered to TeleBlend as an "outstanding replacement service" by SunRocket's liquidators. TeleBlend was created by USA Telephone with the sole purpose of gobbling up fleeing SunRocket customers and keeping them online.

How's that going? Not so well.

The company's website talks about quick turnarounds and easy transitions, but in addition to long waits to get service active, customers have been complaining about major service outages the past two days.

Social Implications

I know my wife would be PO'd if the VoIP service I choose went under AND the replacement service didn't have it's act together . . . . life wouldn't be pleasant until things stabilized.

I wonder how many marriages are in trouble due to this?

That made me chuckle. If a marriage is in trouble over phone service or lack of. Then maybe it's not really a good marriage to begin with

You should always have a alternative plan with VOIP. Be it a basic land line or prepaid cell phone if you depend on the phone that much. VOIP is not 100% fail proof and you should always have a backup plan.

I doubt the OP was talking about a possible divorce. I got the feeling his wife is taking full advantage of the opportunity to say 'I told you not to drop our phone line! What the hell do we want to mess around with this stupid internet phone for anyway? Now nothing works and I can't call my Mom!'

Thank you Sir! May I have another?

You former Sunrocket subs must be Masochists. What did you expect from a company that didn't exist until SR went under? You folks needs to take this as a learning experience and stop your bitching. Switch to a more reliable service. You know, like one that has been around more than a month or get POTS.

Re: Thank you Sir! May I have another?

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't try to re-design the network. They should have just taken over SR's network and hardware.

Incoming service returns

As of 6PM, customers, including me, are reporting that service is back online. YMMV.

Onesuite has been around too

for about 7 or 8 years now.

Though they just launched their VOIP feature (SuiteAdvantage) just barely couple of months ago, their service is quite par with other voip providers out there.

I will never go back to a stand alone voip as my sole phone service. It's too risky not having a back up or making it your primary phone provider.

I'll just stick to a land line and my onesuite.com account.

Re: Onesuite has been around too

I went with an RNK reseller, and I couldn't be happier as they were able to port over 2 of my numbers (both primary and one signature).

Although the re-sellers do come and go, RNK has been around since 1997. »www.rnkcom.com/index.cgi?section=history

Anyway, that was my decision but I did look long and hard at many different independent/non-incumbent VoIP providers. If this one doesn't work out, I'll probably end up w/ a Voice+Broadband combo deal from BellSouth or Comcast.
