VALDOSTA -- Representatives from two of Valdosta's telecommunications providers addressed the city's Telecommunications Advisory Committee Tuesday, in an attempt to convince the city there is no need for a municipal communications venture.

In separate 45-minute presentations, Mediacom and BellSouth officials touted their companies' history with Valdosta and described existing services offered to local customers.

The speakers also charted their companies' plans for the community and what advances in technology will make possible.
