Prince is a non-entityThis article just shows how out of touch with reality, and how irrelevant anything he has to say is. What an idiot. Sometimes stardom can go to your head, and make you feel like anyone really cares what you think.
This guy need to go away and leave the thinking to those more able to handle it.

Re: Aaaaaaand...said by TheBionic: now you know why he hasn't done an interview in ten years. Actually he did do a review a bit back... he was talking about why he didn't allow his music in Rock Band (which I really wanted when I was playing it regularly). He wanted ppl to actually have to LEARN how to play the guitar so they would appreciate his music, he didn't feel they would appreciate it just by pressing some buttons (has he even SEEN anyone play rock band on higher difficulties?). Anyway I love me some Prince, I've seen him in concert twice, I just have to accept that the man is losing his mind.... as long as he keeps making good music occasionally though and I still have his catalog to listen to I'm good...
|

OK?Digital devices just fill your head up with numbers? UM, OK, then I suppose he's going to stop releasing albums on CD's and go back to vinyl? Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking vinyl, but does he not realize that CD's are digital, too.
Does anyone know Prince's drug of choice? Because when I read the part about digital gadgets filling people's heads with numbers, I figured that whatever drug it was, he'd gotten himself a good hit of it before he did that interview.

Let's elaborate on that a bit, shall we?
CD = Digital DVD = Digital Bluray = Digital Satellite TV/Radio = Digital
So by that logic, we should see no more of Prince at all, he shouldn't be on TV, as even if the cable companies offer analog cable, their originating feed is digital. Shouldn't be on Satellite TV/Radio. And shouldn't have any concerts or otherwise released on DVD/Bluray. Shouldn't have any of his music on CD.
Seeing as you can't buy tapes or VHS anymore, we shouldn't see much of him, other than in a used record/tape store, or in specialty music stores that still sell vinyl.
Is he completely braindead? My sources say yes...
/sarcasm | |

How many analog fm stations don't come from a digital source? Pretty much none these days, except the random school station with archaic equipment. So, you shouldn't hear him on radio, either. Not to mention the digital subchannels many stations are now adding. What a relief, no more of the Artist formerly known as important.

Distribution by hired junkies is a very cool idea. Some band manager is gonna read this and use it as a marketing tool. You just watch.

Re: When you suck that bad...You're probably right, but at least they haven't heard about my idea of getting people to take them by having some kid run down the street, furiously passing out a stack of what appear to be burned CD's made on his computer, while being chased by a couple of guys wearing blue RIAA windbreakers and shouting that those are pre-release copies of the soon-to-be hottest album on Earth and that he isn't authorized to hand them out.

EnoughEnough is enough. Stop giving idiots a platform to fill other idiots heads. This is the kind of stuff that makes things difficult for the rest of us. Combating idiots all day who have no real grasp on life and the things that make up our lives. Prince seems harmless to most of us. Just a bit off his rocker right? The problem is there are millions who adore this clown. They hand on his every word. There are others just like him. Many in high profile positions just like him and they all have fans/followers. We are basically allowing idiots to teach other idiots how to be bigger idiots. Doesnt any see where this is going?

Isn't prince active with MAFIAA ?Isn't Prince an active member fighting to have grand mothers sued by the RIAA/MAFIAA ?
If so, it is no surprise to see him deny distribution via legitimate medium: he can then claim a greater number of lost revenus due to pirating of his music (since it is not available through legitimate means).

The Internet Declares Print's DeadMan, the Internet kills everything that sounds like "Prince". It's killing print, and now some androgynous hooting goofball from Minnesota.
I think the artist currently known as weird had an ugly divorce from Reality a few decades back and they really haven't spoken since. Or seen each other.
I guess I'll worry about what Prince thinks about the digital revolution when Steve Ballmer releases a few crappy albums of pop rock pap.
And that album that's only going to be in the newspaper ... um ... will it be on CDs? I know it won't be on 12" vinyl ...

Prince is the sign of what is wrong with MusicWhat is wrong with music isn't Prince's philosophy or his name-du-jour.
What is wrong with music is that the music industry has failed to produce enough superstars in the last 15-20 years to replace people like Prince or Michael Jackson so the icons of the 1980s remain well known and their opinions get treated seriously by the press.
This is not meant to diminish the value of the music of those superstars back then. It is a sign of the music industry's failure to select and push the right type of artists, insisting to force us to listen to rap music which few ever wanted. The rap era lasted WAY too long, much longer than the disco era at the end of the 1970s.
