Eurofine Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a film and TV production company, through its subsidiary Network Guidance Sdn Bhd, has launched the country's third pay television network, Fine TV, featuring 18 channels with 2,870 programmes. Network Guidance president Ida Rahayu Mohd Noor said Fine TV now has 1,000 customers and hoped to increase that to 10,000 by end-2006. The first phase of the launch involves only the Klang Valley. She hopes the service can be made available to the rest of the country by 2007. Its set-top box costs RM385 and customers are charged a monthly fee of RM38. Speaking to reporters at the launch in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 28, she said one of the ways Fine TV could attract customers was by offering broadband internet service as part of the package. She said all the customer needs is a fixed line. Asked if Eurofine planned to go public, Ida said they hope to do so in two to three years. Full article
