Well, yes, of course data-miners will never show any respect for privacy unless forced to. But wait, "Center for Digital Democracy" and "U.S. PIRG" ("Public Interest Research Group") recommend "a legislative ban on collecting from or targeting information to anyone under 18, a do-not-track list similar to the do-not-call list for telemarketers...".
So, how do you tell who is what age online, or who has or has not signed up for the list? With cookies? Identifying people by IP address? Wouldn't these rules themselves require even worse privacy invasions in order to be implemented?

So there has to be a fair hearing before someone is kicked off the internet. So far so good. But wait, what if little Johnny on the parents' connection, or Roommate 1 on the shared flat's connection is banned for copyright infringement. Now what happens to the parents or Roommate 2? | |
