Just another blatant example of how the patent system has become nothing but a broken system designed to make lawyers rich.

| Why not use FLAC? I don't get why we need new audio formats?
FLAC is freely available non-compressed format. Instead of a bunch of different lossless formats, why doesn't everyone use the free universal one so we get some consistency. All we need is another format, that other plays won't support.

Because Apple doesn't recognize FLAC, so obviously it isn't a valid format. /sarcasm Letting one company decide what is and isn't viable is a big part of the problem. | Neil Young Trademarks New HD Audio Format I'm not an audiophile and I cannot hear the difference between 256kbps+ OGG and FLAC, but I can hear the difference between 64kbps MP3 and 256kbps MP3/OGG -- well, just a bit unless I can hear aliasing in 64kbps MP3 format. I have a pair of Insignia NS-B2111 and Sennheiser HD280, but I don't think I'll hear that much of a difference between a $80/pair Insignia and a pair of speakers costing $400 a pair; for headphones, I don't think I'll hear that much of a difference between an HD280 or HD580. -- Phone: Yealink SIP-T22P + CSipSimple in Optimus V Phone System: Asterisk 10.1; Server: Debian Sid+Exp
