They advertise the change extensively and they explain it is a SHORT boost. Most users are happy to get the speed for the small to midsize downloads and uploads they do. -- My BLOG .. .. | This really is a great little technology. It is like back in the old days when you had dedicated lines with burst rates and contracted rates. When I download the latest iTunes or some updates from Microsoft, it's great to get around 16Mbps, while my actual speed is more like 8Mbps for sustained downloads.

The majority of people probably won't even realize this thinking there getting 16Mbps speeds the whole time. In my opinion this is just another means of the cable company attempting to compete with FTTH and saving a couple minutes here and there doesn't sell it to me.

| I am in the service area for the Binghamton market. Since DSL is still 3 megs and Road Runner is now cheaper than Frontier DSL this is just one more reason to make me switch.
While some of you may scoff, this is better than nothing and most importantly better than the competition.

I imagine it would eventually happen here too.

| | | | Considering that much of this market has DSL with only 383 up 512 is a step up. | |

It does have the effect of inflating speedtest results.

| Syracuse has it I live about 10 miles north of Syracuse and mine started when I upgraded to Turbo last week. I didn't think anything of it until I saw this thread. When I saw the burst (it will spike easily over 20 mb) my first thought was that it was qued like when it used to back on dial up. Must be I got the boost by coincidence the same day I upgraded to Turbo. Whatever it is I like it. -- "And guess what this liberal would be all about. This liberal will be about socializing
