So we can hit our caps faster. Having a FAST connection doesn't mean that I have to download 10x as much as I used to do. The whole issue can be solved easily: Make the connections as fast as technically and financially possible. Base monthly charges on how much is transferred(VOLUME). And those who use the most pay the most. No one said that if you get a faster pipe that you have to dl more than you used to. Not sure where you are getting that idea from.
And yes, a faster pipe will make people download more. It enables them to do more at once. Speed and volume tie in together here.
edit: let me ask u this. DO you download more since you've moved on from dialup? -- Religion does three things quite effectively: Divides people, Controls people, Deludes people.

| Re: We will see... Neither of you understand the true issue. No need for CAP in first place. Quit trying to sell us on this bill-per-byte crap. The faster speed you have, the more data you will consume. The more devices you will hook-up to use. It's really basic and the ISP know this. | |

| Re: We will see... It's fairly common sense that the faster your internet the more you can eat in a shorter amount of time. Caps are most definitely not a progressive change, rather one to send america's internet back to the dark ages.
I'm serious you 2 should invest in their stock since your so keen in seeing the company succeed in profit making.

| Lame... The whole point of this is so marketing can put a comparable speed to FiOS in big, bold letters in their ads accompanied by a tiny asterisk and some small print. | |

| Ummm... All of this download speed is nice even if it is only a boost but how about using the full potential of the technology and doing the same thing for uploads? 768 Kbps upload for Turbo in my area...what year are we in? Come on! | |

| Not to mention speed variability up and down. I know, I have both Roadrunner(BHN) and Fios. My FiOS is ALWAYS 19878 up and 19972 dn. Cable speeds, well, they are all over the map. Besides, 20/20 makes working from home VERY enjoyable! Just a thought, -- The Light Pipe is the Right Pipe !!! | |

| Power Boost and FIOS There's nothing to complain about having the ability to pull down larger installs even faster. Except for people that do non-stop downloading and seeding of torrents this will come in handy. The caps on the other hand, I think it's just being tested in one or two areas and hopefully be shot down despite the evil corporate bean counters best attempts.
The person with FIOS that's getting symmetrical 20Mb, that's fairly awesome. I'm fairly sure that this is a loss leader for Verizon because $70 doesn't pay for 20Mb of Inet capacity, so 1 one of two things will most likely happen sooner or later: 1) As they add customers per area I assume they'll be much slower to add more capacity (they are a phone company after all) which will effectively slow you down. 2) They'll raise rates/Find ways to restrict usage.

| Re: Power Boost and FIOS I do not mean to be a troll or viewed as a smartass, but ...
Perhaps you should read up on V*'s FiOS offering. 1) I have had FiOS for 3+ years and instead of slowing down, V* raised my speeds from 5/2 to 20/20. Granted, I added $10 per month to get 20 mb back. 1b Their Fios Internet has nothing to do with their phone service. Completely separate plant. 2) see 1

| $70 can pay for 20Mb of internet capacity- when you're a tier one internet provider and have all of the backbone infrastructure in place. This is why they bought MCI (which was at relatively "bargain basement" prices thanks to the legacy of the Worldcom fiasco). | |

| Powerboost What good does Powerboost do, when you cant maintain a stable connection to begin with. My connection speeds are all over the place, and frequently disconnect completely, for no reason. Time Warner says it's because of weather anomalies, although the weather here in California is pretty constant. Now I can disconnect faster... LOL | |

| Re: Powerboost Funny.......I dropped them almost 8 months ago. In my area I don't have much options, either TWC or ATT. I told TWC tech support my services would always go down especially after hours and my neighbor was not affected even though we both came from the same drop. They never bothered to send out tech to my house, they always said my connection looked good on their side and as long as I was getting over 2MB that it wasn't a problem on their side. Wish we had more options in my city but I guess not. | |

| I haven't seen any yet. No powerboost here in Orange County. Can't say that i really miss it either.... it may be nice for downloading, but I would much rather see them investing time in more HD channels or in a proper 15/2 connection. -- "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both" - Benjamin Franklin, Founding Father. | |
