Yesterday we were the first to report that Time Warner Cable was experimenting with overage charges, and would be launching a per-byte billing trial in their Beaumont, Texas market. According to a leaked memo, the company says they'll be expanding that idea nationally should it prove successful. Time Warner Cable has confirmed that the memo is legitimate, and has been making the media rounds. From one local Beaumont report:
Time Warner spokesman Alex Dudley said an Internet Web site, DSL Reports, quoted a leaked memo from Time Warner outlining the company's plans to offer a menu of service with varying price levels for new customers. The offer would not extend to existing customers, Dudley told The Enterprise. Time Warner could decide to roll out a menu of services for all customers, he said.
