| Re: name change Tax purposes and for investors.
The spin off TWC to its own entity. Use it as an income for TW parent company. TWC pays less taxes and TW parent pays less taxes.
When it comes to investors , people don't want to invest in a company that is a dog , right now TW and AOL are not doing so well. If they use TWC as income on the shares for TW parent they both look good. The parent looks like a good investment because TWC pads their bottom line and TWC looks good to investors , because it's profits.
It's all a shell game to fool people into investing more money into a company and to decrease the amount of taxes they pay by using loop holes.
Like one of my friends recently said: "the disease in this corporate world is the lack of real innovation and real new ideas , while being driven cruelly by stock holders with short term goals. if your boss can't come up with new ideas or allow his employee new idea to develop then the only thing left to do is reduce expenses , cut corners , make a quick bonus , and jump to another company when it gets sour."
See a pattern ? -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!"

| It's about stock price- Time Warner right now trades a multiple to its earnings typical of cable companies, while "pure-play" content producers (Viacom, CBS, etc.) who don't have cable arms tend to trade at higher multiples- the idea is that TWC, despite providing a boatload of revenue for TWX, is actually holding the stock price down, reducing the overall value of the company. | |

| said by patcat88 :Will there be a name change? My guess is that it will go like Time Warner Telecom did- they were given the rights to the name for a limited amount of time, but eventually they'll have to change it. Time Warner Telecom is now changing its name to the incredibly original "tw telecom", where tw now just doesn't stand for anything. | |

| same old story This is good news for consumers. Subscribers can get a whole new TOS that disguises the legalese behind throttling/blocking/capping, and, the best part will be the appearance of the brand spanking new name of Time Warner Cable, a wholly owned subsidiary of Time Warner, Inc. Yeah, an entirely new board of directors and an entirely new pool of dumbass investors looking to get rich quick.

| Re: same old story Don't know what planet your on but on this one and in NY Time Warner doesn't practice throttling/blocking/capping. In regards to the other person who said bring back the Adelphia name (WOULD LOVE TO) but The Rigas Family runs there Cable/Internet under the name Zito Media so now if they were to buy something like Time Warners Stuff that is what it would be called. Also for my own two cents, I am curious as to what issues this will cause between billing/sales department which is the Local/TV callcenters and Tier 1,3 and then Road Runner Tier Two which I believe is All or Mostly Outsourced to Canada Ehh. When companies split divisions with names people get defensive about there name and there company. Its just how it gets. -- I am the Coyote | |

I find that exceptionally difficult to believe since even if it has not yet become an outrage among subscribers, all ISPs practice "network management" in some fashion or another. That you haven't noticed means that you probably surf the net occasionally and otherwise just use your connection for email only.

Nothing Lagging, Nothing Slow and Able to Download anything at Max speeds. We are able to operate at the advertised speeds up and down all the time. So in this area you would be wrong. | so basically if by 24/7 someone is always online here then sure that is occasionally. And by created websites and maintaining them 24/7 and helping run a few ebay businesses 24/7 you mean email only then please you can do my "email only "for me as well. Your trying to make me seem like i just woke up to the internet or the average user. Sorry but you have Highly underestimated my knowledge and my business. Also I did not say "all ISPs practice" I said Time Warner which is Who this Post is about. -- I am the Coyote

| able to compete? Will the "new time warner cable" be able to raise money for upgrades in it's most competitive markets? Not looking at the numbers.. just saving on taxes alone (pushing tw cable into small business category status) won't help it save enough to pay for badly needed deep fiber / docsis 3.0 upgrades, undoubtedly they will need to raise money. Verizon will be neck deep into many of Time Warner's foot print territories, so will AT&T. | |
