Given that most of their cable competitors continue to raise rates, Verizon has found they've been able to raise rates in kind (as much as 12% in some instances). Not only for bundles, as we'll outline below, but also for hardware. Last year alone, Verizon increased FiOSTV prices by 7%, added a new $75 disconnect fee, and bumped the price for their high-definition DVR rental from $12.99 to $15.99 per month in many markets.

We've obtained an internal talking point memo used by a major cable operator's call center that tracks the precise recent price changes for FiOS TV service bundles per State. The training sheet (recapped below the break) allows cable customer support reps to very quickly highlight FiOS bundle hikes to customers when trying to justify their own.

Market to market price variations aren't as dramatic as with many cable providers. Some States still pay the same price for symmetrical 15Mbps & 20Mbps service, though the broadband prices don't vary more than $2 from market to market. TV bundle prices vary only slightly, but never more than $10 from market to market. Several bundles, particularly Verizon's 5Mbps bundle, have seen decreases.
