While some speculated the problems were a result of bandwidth throttling by AT&T, that is not said to be the case. Instead, AppleInsider has been led to believe that the issues are a result of an unintentional software glitch related to High-Speed Uplink Packet Access in some sections of the country. When working properly, HSUPA can allow uplink speeds of 5.76Mbit/s. It is believed that a fix for the issue is forthcoming, though AT&T did not provide a comment on the matter as of Tuesday evening.

| Re: Re:AT&T Is Capping Upload Data Speeds I think an official statement would suffice..
And I'd like to think it's a glitch myself.. hence it being inconsistent and happening on only certain cities. Unless these were supposed to be test markets for throttled service.. but I highly doubt that considering how big this story has gotten today.

| Gizmodo jumped the gun? Their article states AT&T is "capping upload speeds".. While this is totally plausible and seems just the sort of dick move AT&T would make, I don't think Gizmodo should be calling them out until an "official" statement and/or science provides the truth.
Here in Cleveland my Droid was getting a very solid down and up stream.. oh wait..
Okay, well my iPhone using friends and brother, tested their speeds to ease my curiosity and sure enough.. AWFULLY SLOW!

I've never really read their site (more an Engadget guy) but of course I look at it a few times after the iPhone 4 leak. I'd be willing to bet now they're a little salty over the whole "Apple-called-the-cops-and-searched-our-editors-house-and-embarrassed-us-straight-t o-hell" thing.

So I doubt they are going to have anything positive to say about Apple and AT&T. -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot)

Not upgrading!
Though yes, this 100 kbps deal is probably a glitch on the way from 2 Mbps upload capacity to 5.76 Mbps per cell.
